Fall Artist Spotlight: Homaira Ahmed

Homaira Ahmed is an artist and architect who is skilled in pottery and painting. Not only is she an accomplished artist, but a praised teacher who inspires her students to reach from within to find who they truly are through their art.

She believes in "creative art for healthy living" which is encouraged in her classes where she inspires her students to create art through innovative positive thinking.

In her Teays Valley gallery, Arts & Thoughts, Homaira holds pottery and painting classes as well as workshops. In these classes she emphasizes creativity through self discovery and highlights that you can have fun creating art and meet others in the process. Her perspectives on art come from Southeast Asian influences and ancient ethnic art which is reflected in her lessons and in her own work.

Within her most popular pieces of pottery you will find dark clay with carved designs finished with multi colored glazes and stains. She also creates vases and sculptures of human faces which mix realism and abstract art. By combining the two, she uses semi realism to express her philosophical views in 2D & 3D masterpieces.
