Enjoy the Art-for-ALL juried art exhibition with art from over 100 children in grades pre-K through 6 in Boone, Clay, Fayette, Kanawha, Lincoln, and Putnam counties. You may visit during box office hours at the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences during the installation dates.
Charleston Town Center Mall's teen art search features visual art works by artists in middle school, high school & college, ages 13-23, from Boone, Clay, Fayette, Greenbrier, Kanawha, Lincoln, Putnam, Raleigh & Roane counties. All submitted work will be judged by a panel of professional WV artists, representing the mediums of painting, drawing, photography, graphic art, sculpture & textiles.
Aaron "dizzy doc" Hay will return to the Town Center Mall to construct one of his AMAZING giant balloon sculptures. These sculptures have delighted FestivALL attendees for several years and wow the masses. He will work on this masterpiece until the end of FestivALL.
9am-4pm Oral History Interviews
Local author and documentarian Eric Douglas will conduct one-hour oral histories. West Virginia Archives and History, a section of the West Virginia Division of Culture and History, hosts two days of recorded interviews with audio-documentarian Eric Douglas. Appointments are solicited for 50-minute interviews.
11:30AM-1PM Brown Bag Concert
Get out of the office and enjoy the fresh air and some free lunchtime tunes with Burnished Brass Quintet. The Charleston Area Alliance will host their second Brown Bag Concert of the season. Lunch specials available in various locations throughout town or bring your own!
12-6PM River Queen Cruises
BB Riverboats' River Queen returns to Charleston with 1-1/2 hour sightseeing cruises on the Kanawha River. Enjoy the sights and sounds of FestivALL from a different point of view. The River Queen “River Taxi” makes round trips between Haddad Riverfront Park and the University of Charleston.
7:30pm Live Action Shorts
Enjoy a collection of short films from the past year. Come see if you agree with The Academy! The first 50 minutes of animated shorts is family-oriented programming, with an on-screen warning for those with children for the final 35-minute film that is not.
6-8PM StreetWorks Art Auction (LOCATION CHANGE)-- now at the Monkey Barrel
artists will create pieces of art inspired by the theme “Nevertheless, She Persisted: Celebrating Achievements of Women”. During the event, all original pieces will be auctioned off by our favorite auctioneer Viki Williams, a.k.a. Ted Brightwell, who creates a one of a kind auction experience. Each piece will be digitally placed on the StreetWorks signs down Washington Street, continuing the goal of creating a mile-long art gallery on Charleston’s East End. Music provided by the Bark-o-Loungers.
8PM Dance Gala
The Dance Gala features the national guest company, TAYLOR 2. Taylor 2 is the second professional company of legendary American dancer and choreographer, Paul Taylor. The Paul Taylor Dance Company is one of the world’s most sought after and respected ensembles in the world. The smaller six-member Taylor 2 was established in 1993 to ensure that Mr. Taylor’s works could be seen by audiences all over the world without regard to economic or logistical limitations.
