Singer/songwriter/painter Marti Jones combines an art opening with a performance at Taylor Books. The opening is at 6 PM and Ms. Jones will sing at 7:30 and 8:30 (the second set will include audience requests).
After recording several successful pop albums for A&M and RCA Records in the eighties and early nineties, Jones took time out to begin a family with husband (singer/song writer/producer) Don Dixon who wrote or co-wrote much of her material and produced her recordings. With a voice that has been compared to Dusty Springfield, Bonnie Raitt and Annie Lennox, she has recorded a mix of originals and covers by the likes of Janis Ian, Elvis Costello, John Hiatt and Jackie DeShannon.
More recently, as Marti Jones Dixon, she has concentrated on painting with many successful shows on the East Coast and beyond. She continues to perform and released an album, with Don, in 2008 called "Lucky Stars: New Lullabies for Old Souls". Don will not be with her on this trip as he is playing bass in the band of Mary Chapin Carpenter who is on tour.
