Back by popular demand, the American Shakespeare Center returns, this time with their production of The Taming of the Shrew. This hilarious comedy is much more than a “battle of the sexes”; it depicts the neccessity of  “play” in our lives. Blending romantic comedy and outlandish farce, Shakespeare gives us a love story of psychological liberation and the mysteries of being married.

The American Shakespeare Center’s unique performance style blends Shakespeare’s stage craft with modern sensibility. Described as “shamelessly entertaining” by The Washington Post, this award-winning company follows the basic principles of a Renaissance theatrical production to give its audiences a fully lit and interactive experience.

Tickets: $15-25 at Clay Center box office. Call 304-561-3570 or visit theclaycenter.org (online fees apply). The company will also offer two free workshops

Showtime is 7:30pm. Doors open with pre-show music at 7pm.

Sponsors: Charles and Mary Fayne Glotfelty Foundation, Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation, EQT Foundation and is sponsored by Dan & Kathy Foster, Mary McDermott and Forrest & Emily Roles.
