Charleston Light Opera Guild's "Bridges of Madison County"
Based on the best-selling romantic novel by Robert James Waller, “The Bridges of Madison County”, tells the story of Iowa housewife Francesca Johnson and her life-changing four-day romance with traveling National Geographic photographer Robert Kincaid. It’s an unforgettable story of two people caught between duty and connection. The 1995 film was directed by Clint Eastwood and starred Eastwood and Meryl Streep in an Oscar winning performance. The musical boasts a book by Pulitzer Prize-winner Marsha Norman and a lush Tony Award-winning score by Jason Robert Brown that ranges from Americana and folk to the expressive balladry of classic Broadway. The 2014 Broadway production starred Kelli O’Hara and Steven Pasquale. The Charleston Light Opera Guild will present this romantic musical under the direction of Nina Denton Pasinetti with musical direction by John Marshall, accompaniment by David Patrick and a live orchestra and technical direction by Thomas P. Pasinetti. An eleven member area cast is headed by Emily Capece as Francesca and Scott Jarrell as Robert.
