Stand up and Dance by the Charleston Ballet

October 13, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 4:30 pm

The Charleston Ballet, the official state ballet of West Virginia, has created a new video in response to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The video documents the courageous decision of Artistic Director, Kim R. Pauley, and all of the Charleston Ballet’s company dancers, to continue their artform under the most adverse conditions.

In the video, the dancers are masked and socially distanced. They take all the necessary precautions. But through their masks, viewers will see their determination and dedication to the Ballet, as they perform classical, contemporary, and Bollywood styles.

“We have plans moving forward,” said Kim Pauley, “We have scheduled an entire season, and we hope the Charleston community will continue to support us as they have for the past 64 years.”

The video was directed by Deborah Novak, edited by Carol DelGrosso, produced by Mary Anna Ball, with music by Jay Flippin—the same team that created the Emmy Award-winning documentary ANDRE VAN DAMME & THE STORY OF THE CHARLESTON BALLET for public television. In addition, it features principal photography by Perry Bennett.

Watch this award winning documentary on the FestivALL YouTube Channel beginning October 13 at 4PM. “Stand up and Dance” won Best Documentary (in the 5-10 min category) in a Toronto film festival (Couch Film Festival). Congratulations to the Charleston Ballet!
