  • ‘Little Shop of Horrors: The Musical’ presented by Charleston Light Opera Guild

The Charleston Light Opera Guild will present multiple performances of ‘Little Shop of Horrors” on June 9-11 and 16-18, 2023 during FestivALL at the Guild Theater!

Based on the 1960 Roger Corman movie, the musicalLittle Shop of Horrors” with music by Alan Menken and book and lyrics by Howard Ashman tells the story of Seymour Krelhourn, a meek floral assistant who makes a Faustian pact with a tiny plant in order to win the girl he loves. The mysterious Audrey II plant becomes an overnight sensation but exhibits a thirst for blood in order to survive and by the end of the show the plant’s secret threatens the entire planet.

Little Shop of Horrors premiered Off-Off-Broadway before moving to the Off-Broadway Orpheum Theatre in NY in 1982 where it had a five-year run. The musical was captured in a 1986 film starring Rick Moranis as Seymour, Steve Martin as the dentist and Ellen Greene recreating her off-Broadway role as Audrey. With a hip score and book the musical played on Broadway in 2003, has enjoyed Britain’s West End productions, national and international tours, community and school productions, and is currently back Off-Broadway at the Westside Theatre in New York where it continues to receive critical acclaim.

CLOG previously presented the comedic musical in 1987 at the Jefferson Street Workshop and in 2004 at the Guild Theatre.

  • CAMC Foundation “Run for Your Life”

Presenting the 2023 CAMC Foundation Run for Your Life! Join us as we raise funds to support colorectal cancer awareness and screening initiatives with this 2.5-Mile Walk/5-Mile Run.

The race was created in 2004 by friends to honor a Charleston Daily Mail Sports Editor, Jody Jividen, who passed away from colorectal cancer in 2002.

What better way to see a city become a work of art than by foot! This 5-mile race takes runners through downtown Charleston before ascending Spring Hill Cemetery Park where participants traverse through the historical landscape architecture featuring an arboretum containing 1,400 trees of 109 species and offers some of the best views of Charleston before returning down the hill to finish the race riverside at Haddad Riverfront Park. Walkers take a more leisurely stroll to the foot of the hill before turning around to complete the course. Post-race and walk refreshments will be available for all participants that will feature craft beers and food provided by Four Points by Sheraton and Recovery Sports Bar.
