    Enjoy the arts outside during FestivALL. Experience the charm of the Sunrise Carriage Trail as you walk along the .65-mile trail, taking in the sights and sounds of live music, art, dance, and more. Enjoy artful dance performances produced by Carli Mareneck, live music, other performing artists, and more.

    Participating artisits included Brett Mahon, Carli Merenick and Friends, Xino’s, Matt Malinoski, Minor Swing, Mell’s, and Vandalia Musicians.

    The Kiwanis Corporate Regatta

    The Kiwanis Corporate Regatta is a miniature “yacht” race that raises much-needed funds for the Kanawha County Public Library and other Kiwanis charities. Corporate and civic leaders battle in elimination heats at this spirited event — the first boat to reach the distant shore of the library plaza pools, wins!

    If you don’t have anything in mind to work on, don’t let that stop you from joining the fun. They have a wide variety of art supplies to play with and are starting a small collection of craft kits, which are up for grabs too. Feel free to bring any unused art supplies to add to their ever growing stash of goodies.

    West Virginia Poet Laureate Marc Harshman and fellow poet Renée Nicholson will create original, one-of-a-kind poems designed just for you! Visit the poets in the Taylor Books Annex Gallery, select a topic, and they’ll begin writing.

    “The Art of Being Yourself” — Drama Classes by Susan Pilar, Class 2

    Saturday, May 30 | 1pm-2:30pm

    For actors in any part of their training who want to bring more depth and authenticity to their work. You will learn essential acting foundational tools from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. You will discover your self through sensory work, physical and vocal warm-ups, relaxation exercises, and improvisation. You will practice acting truthfully and with ease, trusting the impusle of the moment.

     

    About your instructor: Susan Pilar is a master acting instructor with 20 years of experience teaching, directing, and mentoring actors worldwide. She is a member of the Core Faculty of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York, NY and has traveled across the US to represent the AADA. She is a devoted educator with a multidimensional approach to the craft honed from over two decades in the entertainment industry as a professional actor and dancer. Fusing the methods of Meisner, Adler and Strasberg she has taught acting workshops in London, Sweden, Norway, Argentina, Brazil, Doblin, Edinburgh, Rome and Australia.  She has also founded a NY based production company (Reel Intentions, LLC) that writes, shoots, directs, and edits demo reels for actors, providing a unique, professional and hands-on experience from start to finish.

    Ages: 16-adult

    Fee: $10 per class (each class is limited to 25 participants)

    “I’m With the Band!” Ukulele Jam Session with Tony M. Music

    Join multi-instrumentalist Tony M. Music for a basic introduction to playing the ukulele.

    Bring your ukulele (some available on site) and learn a few easy chords while playing simple, feel-good songs together. This FREE, relaxed jam session is perfect for beginners and open to anyone ages 10 and up. No pressure — just strumming, singing, and enjoying music as a group!
