    The FestivALL Art Parade is BACK on June 10 and what would be better than to have all of our partners join us down Capitol Street for a parade celebrating the arts in our community?
    We want to see your most colorful, musical and funky sides! Feel free to dress up in your most creative outfits/costumes/masks and decorate a float, vehicle or walk in the parade. Play music, dance, sing or all of the above!

  • The Wake Up Call: A West Virginia Hero’s Life (WV Documentary Premiere)

     “The Wake Up Call,” documentary by Storyline Motion Pictures is about the remarkable and heroic international life of West Virginia native Dave Evans. He had a notable, worldly career until the age of 68.

     

    • Pre-show Reception at 6pm in the Culture Center’s Great Hall
    • Screening begins at 7 pm
    • Panel Discussion to follow screening

     Presented by West Virginia International Film Festival and Storyline Motion Pictures.

    The documentary profiles Dave Evans’ 50-year career making and fitting artificial legs, arms, and hands for civilians and combatants in conflict zones and numerous countries around the globe, after losing his own legs below the knees in Vietnam.

    The 71-minute film, with interviews and footage from around the world, was crafted by Alison Gilkey and Eric Neudel (see profiles below). Their Storyline Motion Pictures is a small documentary film company based in Natick, Massachusetts, whose goal is to craft “thought-provoking, high quality programs about often overlooked social issues.” 

    The documentary’s West Virginia premiere is preceded by its world premiere April 17, 2022, at the Boston International Film Festival.

  • Dance FestivALL

    This headlining event features Alicia Mae Holloway & her dance partner Keith Reeves. Holloway is from Morgantown, West Virginia and began dancing when she was three years old at Kat and Company Dance Studio. In 2007, Alicia began taking classes at MorgantownDance Studio. She also trained at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts before attending the School of American Ballet from 2011-2015. She began her professional career dancing with the Suzanne Farrell Ballet, and just completed dancing her seventh season with the Dance Theatre of Harlem where she has worked with Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin, and Gladys Knight. She is currently the co-chairwoman of the School of American Ballet’s Visiting Faculty program and recently was cast as The Lady in a Yellow Dress in the revival of Broadway’s show, CONTACT.

    Holloway and Reeves will be joined by pieces from the Charleston Ballet, River City Youth Ballet and JADCO in this celebration of dance.
